I find this especially helpful when teaching Bernard Gotfryd's narratives from our anthology. It really helps students to understand exactly why his work as a negative retoucher was so valuable to the Nazis and helps to explain why he was allowed to work for them and live. I would use it especially with the stories "Kurt" and "Helmut Reiner."

Should we incorporate such an issue in our teaching of the Holocaust?
