Learning about the Holocaust through Narrative

We thought our members might be interested to see excerpts from a newsletter that introduces our new, 10-week, on-line course in teaching about the Holocaust through narrative. Feel free to pass it on to anyone to whom it might be of interest!

Dear Colleague,
MOFET JTEC – Jewish Teacher Educators Community – is a novel enterprise from...The MOFET Institute. ...MOFET JTEC is ...a Jewish educational community of teacher educators and teachers throughout the world. ...part of ...MOFET ITEC... headed by Dr. Sara Ziv, founder of The MOFET Institute and until recently Director of the Department of Teacher Education in the Israeli Ministry of Education.
MOFET JTEC boasts ...personnel...skilled in...education and in the teaching of...Hebrew, the History of the Jewish People and the ... Land... and the State of Israel. In addition, it has at its disposal advanced technological teaching and learning infrastructures that were developed at the Institute and are operated by its Communication Center....

The MOFET JTEC Content Portal
The objective of the international MOFET JTEC content portal in Jewish education is to improve the flow of pedagogical knowledge and research in Jewish education by helping researchers, teacher educators, and other stakeholders keep abreast of the wealth of publications in the field. ...The portal will ultimately contain entries on organizations involved in Jewish education, online educational resources, and information about upcoming conferences around the world.

A Virtual Academy for Jewish Subjects
During the first stage, two courses will be held:

Teaching the Holocaust through Narrative (THIS IS THE COURSE!!)

Studies Leading to a Diploma in Teaching Hebrew as a Foreign Language

We will hold virtual instruction sessions prior to the commencement of the various courses. Those who wish to participate in a course should send an email to jtec@macam.ac.il in which they include their full name, country of origin, email address and the course/s in which they wish to participate. This preliminary process does not represent registration or a commitment to active participation.

Face-to-face encounters: Seminars in Israel
Seminars and courses will be offered to educators ...and community representatives ... in both formal and informal education. The seminars aim to reinforce the linkage between Diaspora Jewry and the Land of Israel and to endow the participants and the members of their communities with knowledge and tools for carrying out a communal activity that is Jewish-oriented in general and educational in particular....
If you wish to be a part of this international project please respond via our email address: itec@macam.ac.il. You may send relevant materials, suggestions and email addresses of colleagues.

Sincerely,
Dr. Tova Perlmutter
